Gera Scott Chandler combines polymer clay with found objects for her mixed media wearable art, canvases and sculptures. Wherever she goes she’s on the lookout for inspirational ingredients. She may purchase a skein of hand spun wool in an irresistible shade at a Gulf Island market, find a piece of rusty metal at the side of the road, or delight in the discovery of a tangle of corroded wire on the beach. If it won’t fit in her pocket, it is captured by her camera. Gera’s collections guide her as she mixes coordinating clay colours and assembles her unique pieces. She is intrigued with texture and dimensional effects achieved with her signature crackle process as well as carving, stamping, collaging or suspending objects in resin.
Gera’s work is in collections in Canada, USA, Europe, Australia and Japan. Her recent juried shows include The International Polymer Clay Artists Association Synergy 2 Invitational Exhibition in Baltimore and The Sidney Fine Arts show.
